Interested in volunteering with us? There are a few ways for you to get involved:
Bay Area Ambassador-You hangout in our kiosk at Bayfront Park to answer peoples questions. Shifts are normally afternoons and weekends for 3 hours. We request that you man the kiosk once a week. Under this role, you can also man a booth on our behalf at community events I.e. James St. art crawl.
BARC Photographer-You attend our events and programs to photograph them. It role also includes going out to capture specific photos to be used in blog posts or donating photos you already have.
NEW Bay Blogger-
Make us some blog and social media posts to be featured right here! (May include articles, photos, interviews, videos…) You can write about anything: person experiences involving the harbour and Cootes Paradise, relevant conservation issues, new research and studies or even just about an animal or plant found here. We also may request articles to be written about specific topics.
NEW: Community Connection-In high demand currently!
This is a position while you sign-up for specific shifts to aid in program delivery at schools. For this we would send you background information beforehand so you can be familiar with the topic. You can then aid in setting up, running crafts, and (should you be comfortable) aid in actual delivery and presentation of a program. This role also provides the opportunity to help with the digging and planting of our rain gardens.
*For this position, we would require you to get a police check at your own expense.*NEW: Special Events-
For this position we will contact you when we have specific events that we need help planning or delivering. This is an as needed- role and can be tailored to your talents and preferences. It can include booking venues, picking up supplies, preparing crafts, manning a welcome booth, leading tours, running a program, leading story time, interviewing community members… the options are endless.
NEW Updated CitizenScientist- Coming Soon (This role will include our volunteer plantings and water monitoring!)
