Dofasco Restores Hamilton's Watershed
BY Bay Area Restoration Council
ON January 6, 2017
As Canada’s leading steelmaker, Dofasco recognizes its responsibility to employees, the environment, and the communities in which it operates. This isn’t a new notion, ArcelorMittal Dofasco has always invested in its people, and the company’s motto Our Product is Steel. Our Strength is People. extends to the local community. To help support Hamilton and its people, Dofasco invests approximately $2 million in non-profit organizations annually.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco is an active participant in BARC's efforts to educate local youth and restore ecological health to the Harbour. ArcelorMittal Dofasco has a long history of working with BARC and supporting various Harbour-related initiatives. Team Orange is seen across the region lending their support en masse at more than 50 events and activities a year. Identified by brightly coloured orange shirts, their team is known for the compassion, enthusiasm, and energy brought to important community development projects like park clean-ups, Habitat for Humanity builds, and much more.

This past year, Team Orange helped BARC restore areas of our watershed by participating in a prairie planting. Dofasco employees dedicated their time in the late summer heat to plant native species and helped improve wildlife habitat locally. Thank you Team Orange and ArcelorMittal Dofasco for your continued support towards a healthy Hamilton Harbour!
